Accreditation indicates UHS meets a broad range of high standards for its patients as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation. Accreditation by AAAHC requires satisfying approximately 350 criteria covering many aspects of quality improvement, network adequacy, health education and wellness promotion, member’s rights and protection, health education, administration, and other areas of performance assessment. Leon Wolin, UHS board chairman, said, “We are certainly proud of the accreditation status, but more important, we are proud of the high standards of service given to our members. Accreditation is evidence of our performance.”
